Ernst & Young SURVEY SAYS

Get comfortable

Ernst & Young is a “considerably strong company in the world of accounting.” Because of that, expect a “comfortable working environment” where the culture is “very informal but still professional.” Additionally, it’s a “friendly firm” that “seems really invested to success but not in an overly competitive way.”

Hours worked fall anywhere between 40 and 70 per week, with weekend work occurring “about once a month.” And face time seems to be an imperative. “People are expected to be seen late in the office,” says one insider. Management mostly receives high marks from employees, but one manager gives a slightly different view, saying, “The ‘people first’ motto is preached by management all over the place, but it depends whether it’s practiced.
